So, if you have recently bought the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite, here are a bunch of tips and tricks to help you get the most out of it.

1. Call & Text From Your Connected Devices

If you have another Samsung device such as Galaxy Tab S6, you will now be able to receive calls and text on this. All you have to make sure is that you have used the same credentials to log in both the devices. That makes it incredibly easy to handle your work (and increase your productivity) as you can do it all from a single device. To enable this feature, head over to Settings > Advanced Settings > Call & text on other devices. You will see all the connected devices on the list. So the next time you receive a phone, you will see the notification on both devices. Pretty cool, I’d say.

2. Customize the Side Key

One good news about the new Galaxy S10 Lite is that Samsung has removed the dedicated Bixby button. Instead, now you have a multi-functional button named Side key. What makes this Side key special is that you can customize the double-tap and long-tap events as per your preference. So, if you want the camera app to come alive when you long-press on it or open an app of your choice when you double-tap on it, it’s all possible. All you need to do is jump over to Settings > Advanced settings > Side key, and pick your choices. For my phone, I am using Open App for Double press option and Power off for Press and hold. Do let us know your Side Key assignments in the comment section below.

One of the features I like in the new phone is the Link to Windows option. When activated, it eases out various jobs like transferring photos from your phone to your PC, sending out an SMS, or reading your phone’s notification. And the best part is that you can do it wirelessly. Cool, right? The only catch is that you’ll need to log in using your Microsoft account on your PC and phone. To enable it, head over to Settings > Advanced Settings > Link to Windows, and the phone will walk you through the rest. Do note that you will need to install Microsoft’s Your Phone app on your PC.

4. Activate the One-Handed Mode

With phones becoming larger and taller by the day, the one-handed mode is more important than ever. Thankfully, the Galaxy S10 Lite has a nifty shortcut, which lets you activate the mode in just a simple step. So, swipe down from the home button to activate it. And trust me, the transition is really smooth. To active this setting, head over to Settings > Advanced settings > One-handed mode and enable it. Do note that if you have navigation gestures enabled, only the Gesture mode will work.

5. Use Direct Share to Share Photos and Videos

Want to share photos and videos instantly? Say hello to Direct Share. This mode lets you use the sharing panel to send the content directly to your contacts. You can enable it directly via the Advanced Settings. And once done, tap on the Share icon, and the contacts would show up on the top row. Tap on it and you know the rest of the story. Cool Tip: The Galaxy S10 Lite comes with the nifty option to hide the lock screen icons. This mode replaces the icons with a single icon, which you can swipe either way to access the function of your choice. You can access it via Lock Screen > Shortcuts and select Floating button.

6. Enable Selfie in Screen Recording

Like the Galaxy Note 10 Plus, the Galaxy S10 Lite also bundles a cool Screen Recorder option. As suggestive of its name, it lets you capture the happenings on your screen. And that’s not the end of the story. You can also record your face while recording the screen. At the same time, the Samsung screen recorder lets you select the video resolution and the audio source. To enable it, go to Settings > Quick Settings, and long-tap on the Screen Recorder icon to open the setting menu to modify the sound and the video quality. Next, tap on the little photo icon at the bottom to adjust its size. So, the next time you have to record your phone’s screen, tap on the selfie button at the top-right corner to capture your selfie as well. Cool Tip: If you are not a fan of the scrolling screenshot, you can disable it via the Screenshot settings.

7. Add an Alternate Look for your Face

Another cool new trick of the Galaxy S10 Lite is that you can register your alternate look for face unlock. Cool, right? This feature especially comes in use when you are outdoors and your phone won’t unlock because of your sunglasses. We have tested that and it works like a charm. To enable it, go to Settings, search for Face Recognition and tap on Add alternative look. And well, you know the rest of the procedure.

8. Modify the Gestures

Navigation gestures have been around for quite some time now, so what’s new in the Galaxy S10 Lite? Well, this phone brings a handy little toggle to adjust the back gesture sensitivity. Yep, you read that right. Samsung has introduced a cool new slider that lets you tweak the screen’s sensitivity. All you have to do is drag it left/right and adjust it as per your convenience. You’ll find the settings under Display > Navigation bar > More options.

9. Enable Landscape Home Screen

Do you often use your Galaxy S10 Lite in the landscape mode? If yes, you might want to enable the Landscape Mode. This mode switches the home screen to the landscape mode when it’s lying on its side. And what’s more, it also translates to the app drawer as well, thus letting you browse through apps without switching to the portrait mode. To enable it, go to the Home screen settings and toggle the switch for Rotate to landscape mode. Along with that, also toggle the switch for Swipe down for the notification panel. With it, you won’t have to go all the way to the top of your phone to bring down the notification drawer. Just a simple swipe down on location will display the notification panel.
